TikTok Become The World’s Top Downloaded App

As per the Google survey the ByteDance owned video sharing app TikTok become the world’s most downloaded app for year 2020 and continued it’s top position in the first half of 2021 on both Google play and App store.

TikTok was the most downloaded app of July 2021 with over 63 million downloads, said Sensor Tower statistics. The largest number downloads 15% came from Douyin in China, followed by the United States that is 9%.

TikTok Surpasses Facebook and Instagram as top downloaded app

TikTok was launched in 2017 that has overtaken Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram in number of downloads, all over the world. Facebook was the second most installed non-gaming app worldwide in July 2021 with more than 53 million installs.

The app also achieve the most downloads worldwide across both app stores, reaching about 384.6 million. However, downloads were down about 38% compared to nearly 619 million downloads in the first half of 2020. This was due to the app no longer being available in markets such as India and Pakistan.

Researchers believe the secret behind the success of the TikTok app is the Algo – the algorithm that continuously being analyzing and learning from machine learning to determine what content to offer, what content will engage user, what content will user share, and what content is monetizable or leads to monetizable actions.

Consumers are projected to have spent more than $920 million in TikTok during the first half of the year, 74% up when compared to the last year.
